Twilight of the Golds

What if your parents knew every thing about you before you were born? Jonathan Tolins’ award winning play made its Midwest debut in Minneapolis at The Cedar Riverside Theatre and ran from September – October 2001. Ensemble Productions’ take on Tolins’ work featured Leah Cooper, Dan Averitt, John Trones, Deborah Fretham, and James Lemke. The production was directed by Grif Sadow, and examined issues of homophobia, the morality of genetic testing, the power that knowledge can confer, and the difference between love and acceptance.

After each performance discussions were mediated between the cast, crew and audience members involving the topics raised in the play.

“WHAT THE CRITICS SAID…”
Lavender Magazine named Twilight Of The Golds one of the ten best theatrical productions in Minneapolis & St. Paul for the 2001 season. John Trones played the role of Rob Stein, and Lavender Magazine noted his work as one of the “outstanding performances of the 2001 Minneapolis/St. Paul Theatre season”.
